Nookom EEIG provided full logistics support to the organisation of the First Regional Meeting of LGBTI Activism, implemented under the umbrella of the Framework project: “Phase 4-Logistical Support through Support Measures”. This virtual event organized in partnership by the Asociación Civil Más Igualdad Perú and the European Union in Peru took place on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 for approximately 100 invited participants.
The objective of the event was to make LGBTI activisms visible and establish a dialogue on the challenges of the representation of different identities in the political agenda.
We were pleased to bring together leading activists in the LGBTI to share experiences and discuss solutions to the most important problems at the regional level for our community.
The main topics discussed included the challenges for the articulation of different struggles and agendas in the LGBTI movement at the national and regional level, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the LGBTI population and the effect of political crises, corruption and fundamentalisms in the fight for the rights of LGBTI people in the region.
Important part of the event was dedicated to a presentation of the study “Bodies and resistance that transgress the pandemic” carried out by Race and Equality and presented by the study researcher and activist Santiago Balvín, from Peru.
