The specific objective of this newly awarded contract to TIEG is to assist the Haitian government in implementing a maintenance policy for paved roads, at the level of national roads and departmental roads, in order to contribute to the improvement of land transport services for persons and goods.
The first phase of the project will be devoted to the development of a study of maintenance techniques for asphalt roads in Haiti. This will be based on the work required for routine and periodic maintenance. In addition, it will also be necessary to take into account the additional maintenance required to ensure that the pavement structure remains in good condition. This additional maintenance relates to the consideration of emergency works, ancillary works and drainage systems, as well as engineering structures.
Phase two activities will include the definition of at least two strategies to implement the previously approved maintenance techniques.
In the third phase, a manual of procedures will be prepared on the basis of the various diagnoses and inventories carried out previously, as well as the proposed strategies.
The contract will be implemented by 4 TIEG experts in the period between September 2022 to May 2023.
