A year after the New Africa-France Summit that was held in Montpellier, France, to examine the relationship between Africa and France, a new framework for reflection and action has been co-created. A cycle of regional forums entitled “Our Future – Africa Europe Dialogues” is being organised by the French Institute in Paris, local partners in African countries, and the French cultural network over the next 3 years. The first forum of this cycle titled “Paths to Democracy”, took place in Johannesburg, South Africa. The Gateways for Peace Project organised a panel discussion at the Forum with the title “Inclusive Democracy and Migration: How to promote sustainable development and avoid the trap of Xenophobia”. C&M, as a member of the Consortium led by Frankfurt School of Finance & Management supported the European Union Delegation to South Africa in organisation of the panel. The event took place at Soweto Theatre, Johannesburg, South Africa on 7 October 2022 and was attended by over 40 participants.
